Frequently asked questions
Do I need an app?
No. Fingerspurt runs straight in the browser, just open the link.
Is it free?
Right now, yes: Fingerspurt is in open alpha, and everything is free. Joining a race from the browser will always stay free; creating races and appearing on the leaderboard will later require the app.
How many people can play together?
From 2 to 16 in the same room. On your own, you run Training.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, right in your phone's own browser, like Safari or Chrome, no app store needed.
Do we need to be in the same place?
No. Every phone connects to fingerspurt.app over its own network, wifi or mobile data, so you can race together from anywhere. Share the room code or the invite link. The server sits in Europe, so from far away the race can lag a little.
Can you play alone?
Yes, hit Training and run by yourself.
Can it be installed?
Yes, but it is optional: add it to your home screen from the browser menu, on both iPhone and Android.
Does it work offline?
Partly. Once you have opened Fingerspurt at least once with a connection, you can then run solo training and read the guide completely offline. Multiplayer always needs a connection, because the room lives on a shared server.
How long does a race take?
A race is 100, 200 or 400 meters, whichever was picked, and 100 meters usually takes 20 to 30 seconds. For comparison, Usain Bolt ran the 100 meters in 9.58 seconds when he set the world record in Berlin in 2009.
